Course Overview

Our BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS) course will provide learners the opportunity to gain a qualification within the Work Health and Safety (WHS) industry. Designed to provide learners the knowledge and skills to enable the provision of WHS advice to improve the safety practices in the workplace. This Baseline Training course covers a broad range of health and safety functions and responsibilities within the workplace including:
 
  • assessing WHS risks,
  • identifying hazards,
  • implementing strategies to control WHS risks, and
  • evaluating their organisation’s WHS performance.


Designed for:
Learners working in an WHS role, or wanting to gain employment in a WHS role, working under limited supervision and may provide leadership and
guidance to others relating to WHS matters. It is recommended learners have access to a workplace to complete their assessments.

There are no formal entry requirements.

Course Content
The BSB4115 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety provides learners with the knowledge and skills to:

  • Prepare and advise workplace personnel for dealing with WHS issues.
  • Implement and support the WHS management system.
  • Understand WHS legislative requirements and assist with monitoring workplace compliance.
  • Implement WHS initiatives and processes that support organisational WHS goals.
  • Apply knowledge of risk assessment to contribute to the selection of risk-assessment techniques, tools and processes
  • Contribute to setting up and running of WHS consultation and participation processes.

  • BSBWHS402 - Assist with compliance with WHS laws
  • BSBWHS403 - Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes
  • BSBWHS404 - Contribute to WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control
  • BSBWHS405 - Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS management systems
  • BSBWHS406 - Assist with responding to incidents
  • BSBRES401 - Analyse and present research information
  • BSBWRT401 - Write complex documents
  • BSBWHS408 - Assist with effective WHS management of contractors
  • BSBWHS410 - Contribute to work-related health and safety measures and initiatives
  • BSBWHS510 - Contribute to implementing emergency procedures
 
Delivery Method
Learners will have 12 Months from course commencement to complete the course.
 
Rolling Intakes
  • For public courses, Baseline Training provides a rolling intake model, where once a month a one-day face to face interactive workshop is conducted, which requires learners to participate in theory and practical activities.
 Block Sessions - face to face
  • Face to face interactive workshops requiring learners to attend five days participating in both theory and practical activities. After the completion of the five day face to face workshop, learners will have access to the blearning portal in which the learner has 12 months to submit assessments.
 Distance Education
  • Self-paced Distance Education allows the learner the flexibility to complete the course at their own pace. Learners are provided course-ware online via the blearning Student Portal and via emails. Assessments are required to be completed within 12 months from commencement of the course.
 Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
  • RPL is available for those with adequate industry experience. Please contact us for more information on how to produce an RPL evidence portfolio.
 
Assessment
Assessment activities may include a combination of knowledge questions, scenarios and workplace projects. Upon successful completion of the qualification, learners will be awarded – BSB41415- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.

Study Pathways
Learners who successfully complete the  BSB41415- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety qualification can engage in further training to complete full qualification/s from the BSB Training Package. Baseline can provide advice on BSB as a pathway to complete a full/higher qualification or further their career pathway.
