HEIGHTS - Tower Rescue

Participants who have previous experience in working at heights (obtained RIIWHS204D) and who wish develop an ability to perform a tower rescue. Within this course the skills and knowledge to participate in rescue operations as a member of a rescue team and support specialist rescue operations will be explored in conjunction with providing emergency care pending the arrive of appropriately qualified personnel.


The necessary skills and knowledge to identify and avoid workplace hazards and risks, to maintain personal safety and to report identified issues to supervisors and team members, with regards to the rescue operation, are also covered within this course.

Students must have completed, within the past 2 years, RIIWHS204E - Safe working at heights, prior to commencement of this course and present proof of attainment.

Targeted Audience

There are no formal entry requirements stipulated for this programme; however participants must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills.  Participants are required to: 

  • Report potential risks and hazards
  • Consultation with authorised personnel
  • Comply with relevant documentation, policies and procedures
  • Completion of required workplace documentation
  • Interpret and comply with equipment manufacturer’s instructions and specifications

Learning Methods

The assessment for this programme has been designed to assess a person’s competence in accordance with the Resources & Infrastructure Industry Training Package, any relevant Legislation and the proprietary requirements of the organisation or workplace. The assessment will consist of both a written and practical component.

  • Delivery can consist of face to face, and practical simulations.
