Short Course-Provide Advanced First Aid

This course deals with the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.



This Advanced First Aid course provides a set of skills to provide an advanced first aid response in the event of an emergency. It is relevant for personnel who are the designated first aiders, particularly those working in construction, mining or any occupation involving hazardous work.


Targeted Audience

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements stipulated for this training programme; however participants are required to possess basic literacy and numeracy skills to:

  • Interpret manufacturer’s instructions
  • Communicate with casualty
  • Communicate incident details to emergency response services
  • Report details of incident to workplace supervisor
  • Complete documentation in accordance with workplace policy and procedures
  • Participate within debriefing
  • Communicate deployment of resources to appropriate locations
  • Interpret workplace policies and procedures

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • HLTAID006 - Provide advanced first aid
  • HLTAID003 - Provide first aid
  • HLTAID001 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID002 - Provide basic emergency life support

Learning Methods

This course has a written and practical assessment. Our two day course requires learners to attend 100% of this first aid training and successfully demonstrate competence in all assessment activities.
Please note: Unit of competency stipulates CPR must be conducted on the floor.
