HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation

This course is designed for workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Learners are expected to be experienced First Aid workers requiring upskilling to perform higher level first aid response.


This Advanced Resuscitation course provides a set of skills to provide an advanced response in the event of an emergency. It is relevant for personnel who are the designated first aiders, and will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to effectively operate advanced resuscitation equipment such as oxygen and a defibrillator. 

There are no prerequisites, however:

  • Learners will need to provide a certified copy of HLTAID001 to verify refresher course eligibility.
  • have the capacity and flexibility to freely walk, bend and twist, and perform safe lifting techniques, and to have the physical fitness to perform uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor and on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • HLTAID001 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID007 - Provide advanced resuscitation

Learning Methods

This course has a written and practical assessment. Our one day course requires learners to attend 100% of this first aid training and successfully demonstrate competence in all assessment activities.
Please note: Unit of competency stipulates CPR must be conducted on the floor.
