FIRST AID - HLTAIDSS00027 Occupational First Aid Skill Set


The Occupational first Aid course is a national skills set (HLTSS00027 - Occupational first aid skill set) which provides a set of skills to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in a workplace environment, including the skills to provide an emergency first aid response in the event of an emergency.

Introduction

There are no pre-requisites for this course; however it is recommended that participants have sufficient English language and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the first aid training.

Participants will also be required to undertake practical training and assessments at floor level. This includes demonstrating CPR on a manikin for a period of two minutes. If you have poor mobility or a current injury please discuss this with us prior to booking. A good level of physical fitness is needed to complete all assessment tasks.

Targeted Audience

The HLTAIDSS00027 - Occupational First Aid skill set has been endorsed by industry as appropriate for people who are either employed in, or intending to become employed in, nominated occupational first aider and management roles.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised.
  • HLTAID003 - Provide first aid;
  • HLTAID006 – Provide Advanced First Aid;
  • HLTAID007 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation; and
  • HLTAID008 – Manage First Aid Services & Resources

  • Provides the occupational first aider with advanced knowledge and skills to carry out emergency first aid for injuries and illnesses in the workplace and designed to meet the needs of those who require or would like to obtain a higher level of first aid.

Learning Methods

Candidates will be required to complete a written workbook to assess the theory component. A number of simulated scenarios will also be used to allow participants to demonstrate the application of first aid in a practicum situation (Face to Face)
