Provide Advanced First Aid

Our Advanced First Aid course is designed to give participants the skills and knowledge they need to provide advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical assistance. This course is ideal for those who work in high-risk areas, act as first aid responders to large facilities or groups or work in areas where help may be delayed. This course covers a broad range of advanced skills including management of large incidents, major trauma, sudden cardiac arrest and emotionally disturbed/drug affected individuals.

  • Nil

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no formal entry requirements stipulated for this training programme; however participants are required to possess basic literacy and numeracy skills to:

  • Interpret manufacturer’s instructions
  • Communicate with casualty
  • Communicate incident details to emergency response services
  • Report details of incident to workplace supervisor
  • Complete documentation in accordance with workplace policy and procedures
  • Participate within debriefing
  • Communicate deployment of resources to appropriate locations
  • Interpret workplace policies and procedures

COURSE OUTCOME

On completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • HLTAID006 – Provide advanced first aid
  • HLTAID003 – Provide first aid
  • HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID002 – Provide basic emergency life support

PROGRAM BENEFITS

  • Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

ASSESSMENT

The course will consist of a written and practical assessment.

Please note: Unit of competency stipulates CPR must be conducted on the floor.
