This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty and describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.


First aid is the assistance given to a person suffering a sudden illness or injury until emergency services arrive. The aim of first aid is to preserve life, prevent the condition from getting worse and promote recovery. First aid and CPR certification is an important compliance requirement within Australian workplaces, especially those that are particularly susceptible to workplace injury like the mining, agriculture and foresting injuries.

Prerequisites – Pre-reading must be completed prior to attending the course.


Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements stipulated for this program, however candidates must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills in order to:

  • Interpret manufacturer’s instructions
  • Communicate with casualty
  • Communicate incident details to emergency response services
  • Report details of incident to workplace supervisor
  • Complete documentation in accordance with workplace policy and procedures
  • Participate within debriefing

On completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID002 – Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID003 – Provide first aid


  • Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

  • Airway & breathing management
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Response and first aid care for a range of sudden medical conditions, illnesses and injuries
  • Legal issues and documentation


This course has a written and practical assessment. Our one day course incorporates HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), which is delivered in the morning or the first session. The remainder of the course includes HLTAID002 and HLTAID003.

Delivery Mode:

  • 1 day (8 hours) course
  • Classroom based.
  • Our Pinkenba facility (inc Lunch & free parking) or your onsite location.
  • Delivery will consist of face to face, and practical simulations.
